A brass band is a many faceted musical combination! It can play any kind of music from pop to a symphony! The Lewis Merthyr Band is no exception and regularly appears in serious concert work, where both ‘serious’ and light classical music can be heard.
The Band has appeared at many prestigious venues over the years such as the Royal Albert Hall, the Tivoli Gardens Concert Hall in Copenhagen, St David’s Hall, Cardiff and the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea. It has appeared on regional and national radio and television and also on record. On other occasions it has performed at corporate functions ranging from Blenheim Palace to the Motor Show at the NEC in Birmingham! Of late the Band has successfully turned its attention to the provision of incidental music for weddings and has built up a wide choice of suitable material to grace all tastes.
Whilst the full band numbers 30 players, various instrumental combinations are available using smaller groups of players appropriate to the occasion.
The Band is a registered charity and as such is willing to work jointly with other charities and organisations in their fund-raising efforts.
