Lewis Merthyr Return to Contest Glory! (May 19, 2009)
After some while just knocking on the door of competition success, the Band stormed to the first prize in the 2nd Section of the South East Wales Brass Band Association contest held in Ebbw Vale on Saturday 16th May last.
With a significant winning margin of three points the Band gave what was described as a fine performance of Bruce Frazer's 'Verona Lights'.
The adjudicator completed his detailed praise of the band's performance by saying "A performance of musical quality so well prepared and performed".
The Band's percussion team of brother and sister Gareth and Leanne Talbot, ably assisted by Jordon Pritchard, were outstanding and deserved the special 'instrumentalist award'.
Altogether a very satisfactory and satisfying day!
