Lewis Merthyr Band continues tradition (November 18, 2008)
For many years, the Lewis Merthyr Band, formerly the Lewis Merthyr Colliery Band, represented South Wales in the annual Mineworkers National Brass Band Competition held in the Blackpool Winter Gardens. With the demise of this prestigious national competition when the National Coal Board was abolished, Butlins took over the sponsorship and the event has now been run very successfully by them at their Skegness resort.
The Band has continued to support this event and is entered for the 2009 competition which takes place in January. Click here to return to the News page
